Getting Paid to Be Mom!

It is nap time & I thought I'd take a few minutes to update this blog, but realizing how far behind I am, it may take a while, but I do want to keep this updated more frequently. I've become better at my time management skills so I may actually have some time to post. lol!

So I am on Week 2 of tending a 5 1/2 year old boy named Adonay. So far things seem to be going pretty good. Jeffery & him will be in a Kindergarten readiness program starting mid June. It'll be good for them. It runs for a month M-Th from 8am to Noon. I'll walk over with the other kids and we'll all have lunch together for the free lunch program. I am really going to enjoy not making lunches all summer.

So my blog has nothing about Ruby and she turned one this past Thursday (May 13th). I can't believe how huge she is. She seems to be gaining on Kaden & could possibly even pass him up. She has her one year check up on Thursday so we'll see how big she has gotten. She seems to be trying to give up her am nap, but she still needs it. Some days that means an extra long afternoon nap or early bed time. She is very vocal & loves music. She shakes her little body when the radio is on & makes everyone laugh! She makes a really cute "ugly face." I'll have to post it. Kaden is starting to think he is too big for naps and cries every time, but yet he always goes to sleep and sleeps for about 3 hours, sometimes longer. He's talking a lot more and his newest accomplishment, putting on his own socks! It was so cute when he came running up to me yelling, "mom, look, look!" as he pointed at his toes. Jeffery is loving pre-scholl and has changed a lot in the last year. Hard to believe he is the same kid. He is still shy, but not excessively like he was. He is also a lot less clingy (love it!). He writes is name perfectly & is so proud of himself. He also got his braces from Shriners back in March & is doing better at staying off his toes when he doesn't wear them. I think it will take another 3 months or more before we see a huge improvement. Elisa is a bit of a trouble maker at school. She get's bored. I can tell especially with how easy her homework is. She is in the top Math class & loves it. Just this past Sunday for fun, to keep herself entertained during sacrament meeting, she wrote out all her doubles from 1 to 100 with all the answers! (Ex 1+1=2, 2+2=4 and so on). Last night she was talking about times tables & already understands the ones and the twos. She was really excited about that. I told her I'd help her this summer if she'd like so she can learn them all (not that I was that good at them). She already wants to start today on the three's. That girl makes me laugh! She also gets 100% on her spelling tests 98% of the time and without studying. After her last one where she realized she'd made stupid mistakes I helped her study the words she had trouble with (only two of them). One was the word great. She kept spelling it grate. It has all the same letters! lol! I kept telling her, "Remember G - R - EAT." Needless to say she got 100%. I always did better if I could find a neat trick to help me remember. Something tells me she is going to far surpass my knowledge from school. Next I am going to help her with her reading. She does really good, but I want her to be challenged & she's not right now. I am really hoping her 2nd grade teacher will keep her better challenged. I kinda feel like her teacher now gave up.

So Jared has been Designing Cabinets since September of last year & has been doing quite well. He stays super busy, so buys that he hasn't been in school for a year now. He also keeps pretty busy with his Scoutmaster position. Those boys are quite a handful! Not sure how he does it some time without killing them, lol! I really feel like he's good for those boys.

Me, I am enjoying getting paid to do the dishes (my most hated chore). I have also been trying new styles of jewelry making, like wire bending (love it!). With more practice & experimenting I think I'll be able to come up with some pretty awesome stuff! I submitted an application to the Quilted-bear website & should know by the end of the week if they are going to let me sell my jewelry on their website. I also plan to have a booth at a boutiqe in Delta in October. They do something for Widows weekend during the deer hunt. Jared's mom told me about it. I'll have to check into other things as well. I even hop to get a website put together & maybe even be able to sell off of it. Anyway, I better go check on the kids. I have a few extras for nap time today.
