Ruby's 1st Birthday!

Took Ruby to Toys R Us where they sang to her & gave her a balloon & a crown!
Ruby loves to play with our phones, so we got one of her own that wasn't so expensive!
Ruby has learned to sign 'baby' and loves all the little babies at church so we got her a set of her own. She sleeps with one every night now!
We had cake & ice cream at my friend Debi's house. Ruby couldn't wait to dive in!

Ruby thoroughly enjoyed her cake and even tried to get herself more cake!

For the Moms!

Came across this today and it seemed to reflect my chaotic day & thought I should share it. After all what good is it for me to write poems and never share them.

Mom, Mommy, Mother Dear

They're driving me insane,
wearing out my name.
Mom, Mommy, Mother Dear
I can't stand another tear.

I want this or that.
He took my favorite hat.
She pushed me and I fell down.
It's always something every time I turn around.

So I take a deep breath, let it out slow.
I try to keep my voice ever so low.
I count to ten,
then do it again.

I give a hug and a kiss
and know this I would miss.
So on I go with another day,
tomorrow will be better I pray.

For a Mother's job is never done.
Peace and quiet sometimes there is none.
Though no matter what the day brings,
tomorrow it will start all over when the alarm clock rings!

Ruby has her 1 year check up!

So this morning I took Ruby in for her 1 year check up. She was happy to play with the doctor and even show off a little. She loves playing with my phone and says, "Hello Daddy!" She did this for the doctor several times. She is was 31" tall putting her in the 97% in height and was almost 21 lbs putting her in the 50% for weight. She is definitely catching up to Kaden. Elisa was 36" when she was 2 so maybe Ruby will be taller than her. Ruby did not like the 3 shots she received, but a love & a sticker cheered her up!

Bryce get's married...

So a couple weeks ago on May 8th, Bryce, Jared's baby brother married Aubry Roberts in the Salt Lake Temple. It is hard to believe he is old enough to make such a grown up decision, but we are proud of him. Aubry is very sweet & seems to influence him in a good way! We haven't had many opportunities to get together because they were going to school at Snow College, but now they are in Orem and we hope that means seeing them more often. The kids had a great time at the reception running around with their cousins! I'm glad I was a participant. It is obvious that Bryce & Aubry love each other dearly, so here's my "Welcome to the Family Aubry!

BedTime...

So it's 8:25 p.m. and all the kids are in bed except Ruby, who Daddy just "rescued." Of course the others aren't asleep yet, but they're in bed before 9 so that's progress! Seems like bed time is always so hectic. The "I didn't brush my teeth yet" or hugs & kisses for the third time. So I just told the boys to go to sleep for like the 100th time. I can hear them playing hence their room is next to mine. Crazy kids! I'm betting if I peeked in on Elisa she's playing in her bed as well, but now that they're in bed, my day is over! I can finally sit down and relax & just breath. No more diapers to change or toys to pick up. No more fixing meals or snacks. No more laundry to wash and the best of all, no more dishes today!

Getting Paid to Be Mom!

It is nap time & I thought I'd take a few minutes to update this blog, but realizing how far behind I am, it may take a while, but I do want to keep this updated more frequently. I've become better at my time management skills so I may actually have some time to post. lol!

So I am on Week 2 of tending a 5 1/2 year old boy named Adonay. So far things seem to be going pretty good. Jeffery & him will be in a Kindergarten readiness program starting mid June. It'll be good for them. It runs for a month M-Th from 8am to Noon. I'll walk over with the other kids and we'll all have lunch together for the free lunch program. I am really going to enjoy not making lunches all summer.

So my blog has nothing about Ruby and she turned one this past Thursday (May 13th). I can't believe how huge she is. She seems to be gaining on Kaden & could possibly even pass him up. She has her one year check up on Thursday so we'll see how big she has gotten. She seems to be trying to give up her am nap, but she still needs it. Some days that means an extra long afternoon nap or early bed time. She is very vocal & loves music. She shakes her little body when the radio is on & makes everyone laugh! She makes a really cute "ugly face." I'll have to post it. Kaden is starting to think he is too big for naps and cries every time, but yet he always goes to sleep and sleeps for about 3 hours, sometimes longer. He's talking a lot more and his newest accomplishment, putting on his own socks! It was so cute when he came running up to me yelling, "mom, look, look!" as he pointed at his toes. Jeffery is loving pre-scholl and has changed a lot in the last year. Hard to believe he is the same kid. He is still shy, but not excessively like he was. He is also a lot less clingy (love it!). He writes is name perfectly & is so proud of himself. He also got his braces from Shriners back in March & is doing better at staying off his toes when he doesn't wear them. I think it will take another 3 months or more before we see a huge improvement. Elisa is a bit of a trouble maker at school. She get's bored. I can tell especially with how easy her homework is. She is in the top Math class & loves it. Just this past Sunday for fun, to keep herself entertained during sacrament meeting, she wrote out all her doubles from 1 to 100 with all the answers! (Ex 1+1=2, 2+2=4 and so on). Last night she was talking about times tables & already understands the ones and the twos. She was really excited about that. I told her I'd help her this summer if she'd like so she can learn them all (not that I was that good at them). She already wants to start today on the three's. That girl makes me laugh! She also gets 100% on her spelling tests 98% of the time and without studying. After her last one where she realized she'd made stupid mistakes I helped her study the words she had trouble with (only two of them). One was the word great. She kept spelling it grate. It has all the same letters! lol! I kept telling her, "Remember G - R - EAT." Needless to say she got 100%. I always did better if I could find a neat trick to help me remember. Something tells me she is going to far surpass my knowledge from school. Next I am going to help her with her reading. She does really good, but I want her to be challenged & she's not right now. I am really hoping her 2nd grade teacher will keep her better challenged. I kinda feel like her teacher now gave up.

So Jared has been Designing Cabinets since September of last year & has been doing quite well. He stays super busy, so buys that he hasn't been in school for a year now. He also keeps pretty busy with his Scoutmaster position. Those boys are quite a handful! Not sure how he does it some time without killing them, lol! I really feel like he's good for those boys.

Me, I am enjoying getting paid to do the dishes (my most hated chore). I have also been trying new styles of jewelry making, like wire bending (love it!). With more practice & experimenting I think I'll be able to come up with some pretty awesome stuff! I submitted an application to the Quilted-bear website & should know by the end of the week if they are going to let me sell my jewelry on their website. I also plan to have a booth at a boutiqe in Delta in October. They do something for Widows weekend during the deer hunt. Jared's mom told me about it. I'll have to check into other things as well. I even hop to get a website put together & maybe even be able to sell off of it. Anyway, I better go check on the kids. I have a few extras for nap time today.
